Aaaa when I was a 5 yr old the people next door had a chow. I used to tell the other kids in school that I lived next to a lion because I honestly thought I did. They're meant to be quite nasty, though aren't they? This one was nice and licked blue slime on my cardigan.

Not only is the anesthesia expensive but it's also pricier to have them on fluids after the tooth is pulled. Low cost spay/neuters will do the surgery and then just not have them on fluids afterwards but that poses a risk because if they come out of surgery and their temperature is too high and won't go down, there's a greater possibility they could die if they're not on fluids. Fluids help keep the temp right and fight infection. It's usually not recommended to pass on the fluids if the animal is older (if they're too old they're usually not recommended surgery/anesthesia to begin with because they're less likely to wake up)

It's a very common (and annoying) problem cats have- constipation. Especially as they get older. Same as bladder stones. Both are usually because a lot of cats don't drink enough water. AngelDust- Do you feed your cat wet food? I would recommend only feed it wet food. I know it's stinky and a hassle (especially in LA where it's hot and it can attract flies if you have a door or window open) but it usually helps cats a lot that suffer from constipation. Let us know what happens about the hair/ if she gets any tests. I've never heard of a cat eating hair off someone's head. That's funny. Well it's not funny, I hope your cat is okay.

thanks for the advice & good wishes!
the pet shop told me to stop feeding her dry food & give her veggie oil, which i did.

sometimes, it seems she drinks very little water.

i had a cat water fountain, she didn't like it much. it was for my other cat, who loved it.
it sounded so nice & soothing, too. but she didn't care. it had to be moved out of my bathroom every time i showered, or it would ruin the moter.

i think she'll be o.k, she did a little poo this am, considerably larger than yesterday. i can't wait & worry, every day really counts, even though she acts like she's well, cats will disguise their discomfort. & cats have a very short digestive system, in comparison to humans. maybe she just needs an enema.
