good luck Angel Dust. i hope your kitty will be ok and that it's not too expensive to remedy. i've never heard of a cat eating the hair off someone's head! my cat has scratched my face while i was asleep- leaving one long scratch - but i think it's cos she wanted to wake me up.
maybe your cat ate something else weird?

I can see anaesthesia is expensive- but SERIOUSLY. First vet quoted me £480. Was tempted to ask if that included some gold replacement dentures because that is a rip off for knocking a cat out for half an hour and yanking a couple of teeth out. Think I will give the vet evils and say "Do you know I'm going to have to live off value toast and peanut butter for MONTHS to pay this one off?"

that's ****ty.

i try to go to the low cost places for poortards.

the nevada humane society here used to have a pretty good low-cost system for povtards & their pets. me & buzz used to go to that.

my dad usually dresses up in his raggedyest clothes and drives his ****ty truck to the vet when he knows something is going to cost a zillion dollars.

then he acts real sad so people will take pity on the poor hobo-man and his sick dog.

lots of times, if people aren't dicks, they will give discounts to poor people.

also the SPCA likes to give handouts $$$.

this is nevada tho. people might just be nicer here.

Here is the funny thing here- if I were getting money from the council to live off and a subsidised house, I could get free vet care. However I am a student, on a bursary about half of what they get, I'm in debt and I don't get subsidised housing so my bursary goes about 90% on rent, and students don't get help with vet costs. When I mentioned this to one vet's surgery, they went "Well students shouldn't get a pet". Its like, okay, thanks I'll go back in time and tell my 13 year old self to not get a cat because in 12 years from now I won't be getting any help with the bills. Its stupid.
