Lol, my trouble was how to pick it up! Like by the ears, or the tail, or the legs....?

There are actually snakes there, but I doubt my lecturers would be happy if I did that

Oh thank GOD this wasn't what I thought it was, looking at the thread title I feared it was a "Richard Gere and small rodent urban legend" or someone who is titillated by the sight of mice in bondage. I mean, there was a spate of "squish" films doing the rounds from South East Asia, where people used to get off on videos of women in heels squashing small animals so the prospect of "mouse fetishism" really shouldn't surprise me

I'm flummoxed. I know with cats that if you gently but firmly take hold of the nape of their neck, they tend to yield as it reminds them of their mothers taking the lead when they were kittens. I have no idea if this works with rodents but it could be worth trying, just be gentle, OK?

BTW, wouldn't there be something like a "Veterinary 101" forum where something like this would be properly addressed, this can't be the very first time someone, somewhere posed the very same question?

Any small animal is difficult to examine, really. But it's even worse if they're wiggly.

Muverick, do you ever work with rabbits? It's interesting because I know several vets that do treat rabbits and have dissuaded the interns (that are in vet school and working at our hospital) from treating rabbits when they become a vet because of how weird/eccentric rabbit owners are. And they are! The vets at my work love rabbits but dealing with their owners can just be really uncomfortable. And most people around here that have rabbits buy them off the street which is SO WRONG and should never be done because then it just makes those idiots breed the rabbits more (and those types of rabbits have poor health/ it's similar to buying puppies at a pet store which most come from puppy mills). So the vets have to deal with distraught owners who wants to know why their rabbits are so sick and they try to tell them you know, you really shouldn't buy the rabbits to begin with, but it just doesn't register I guess. A lot of people around here that buy rabbits just end up with a whole lot of grief.
