kitten and a puppy in love, so i can't sleep

so, i got a kitten.
well, i got my boyfriend a kitten, and he lives with me, so now WE have a kitten.

i was worried about the kitten (3 months) and the puppy (8 months) getting along together. i figured that the dog would treat the cat as prey and might harm it, or that the cat would be terrified of the dog.. but no.

although for the first 90 minutes the dog was WAY TOO excited about the cat, and the cat was WAY su****ious about the dog. and then...

they kindof fell in love.
which is GREAT during the day.
the dog licks the cat's whole body, the cat taunts the dog and gets the dog to chase her, the cat wants to wrestle with the dog, etc.

but at night, this continues.
we were both up from 1am-7am because of the cacophony of baby animals in the house.

we tried putting the dog in her crate, but the cat just comes up to the crate door to play with the dog.
then we tried keeping the cat downstairs only, but clearly, the cat is going to go wherever it likes. also, when the dog is put outside, the cat meows at the door, and watches the dog the whole time.

so... wtf?
i tried googling this. but nothing comes up for a cat and dog that are so friendly with one another that they carry on with their shenanigans and running/chasing, and barking and meowing.

and i'm not good at cats.
and kr has alot of cats. so fill me in.

also, i think the cat and dog could both use some independent time.
and, when i say "play" together, i mean they're like hyperactive. not just calmly doing it, which is what i would prefer. i dont want dog to hurt cat. or vice versa.

help.

they'll grow out of it especially once the kitten gets older and chills out.

kittens are always bundles of energy and that's going to rub off on the dog for the first little while.

pics please.

Yeah my friends cat and dog did this.
For ages though. Like, for a few months.
The cat ate too much though, and got lazy and eventually got bored with it.
