| | | I am the proud owner of a Rabbit... Long story short, we found a rabbit outside that was obviously somoene's pet a long time ago. We posted signs saying we found her but no one has come forward.
When she lays down, you can see her stomach MOVE. I'm thinking I might have a few more rabbits soon. Anyone have bunnies and what can you tell me about them and their kits?
She's super sweet but I think I am screwed. |

| | | Is it normal when you breed rabbits to have to take it to the vet though?
She seems OK, and I purchased a nesting box and all the food they said in "Rabbits for Dummies"(no shit they have that Dummy book) and she doesn't seem distressed. She's playing with her toys and doing bunny things. The only thing I see her do more now is lay down on her side. It's pretty cute, she actually drops like she is playing.
We have had her for a week and a half. I put the signs up for her the day after we got her and have heard nothing. $200.00 later she's ours I guess.
I have no issue to taking her to the vet but my question is why would I? |

let's hope threre is nothing wrong and she's just a knocked up little stray slutty bunny!

| | I'll call my normal vet and see what she says. I don't think she specializes in rodents but her vet tech can ask someone there who does.
Like I said, I don't mind taking her, it's what we do as pet owners. I just got paranoid like something always goes wrong when they are in labor or whatever.
I have this track record. When I purchased my daughters hamster 10 years ago she was a little whore and was knocked up as well. I guess it's what I do. Rescue slutty rodents. |

| | | our first dog ws a total slut, as soon as she went into heat she tore the backyard up and dug a hole under the fence and went to the first dog she found for a banging.
turns out she had bad choice in males cos' all 8 puppies ended up having to be put down, they were NUTS!!!

and i'd like to take this time to point out that a rabbit is NOT a rodent. rabbits are actually more closely related to primates.
and rabbit pellets are really unnecessary. plenty of fresh greens and timothy hay is way better. pellets make your rabbit fat. though that could be useful if your rabbit is breastfeeding. again, something you should be asking a vet about. pregnant and breastfeeding animals eat differently than non mothering animals.
you also need a vet to spay the rabbit. female rabbits are highly prone to reproductive cancers.
if your bunny is in fact pregnant read this Newborn Baby Bunny Facts
also on rabbit.org you can find bunny vets in your area. where in california are you located? i know an excellent rabbit vet in the bay area if you need a reference.

That was my initial question because it visibly moves. I have no history with rabbits, I'm a guniea pig gal. We just rescued a bunny and now due to overwhelming whining in the family I am keeping her.
I don't know if she is pregnant but assumed as much since it looked like there was an alien in her stomach when she lays down. I use a really well respected clinic in Los Altos for my vet needs. They are open 24 hours and I have had a relationship with a vet there for about 10 years. She mainly deals with the cats and dogs but they have specialists. If you want to suggest someone else, that would be great. Since we are making the decision to keep her, I want to be a good bunny mom.
She may not be pregnant. That would be awesome. And, I would get her fixed absolutely if it means a longer, healthier life span. Plus I hear it really helps with litter training them. She is hopeless with it so far. |

| | i've never seen a pregnant rabbit stomach before so i'm no expert but bunny's stomachs move regularly. plus she's eating right? that's always a good sign. i believe there is a way you can tell by rubbing the rabbit's stomach if you have her laid on her back but some rabbits are highly opposed to being laid on their backs.
when i had my bunny i went to boulevard pet hospital in castro valley but that's kind of far from where you are.
but yeah. spaying really helps with the peeing all over thing. have you tried putting some rabbit poop in the litter box? and lining the whole house in newspaper? lol. put the litter box in whatever corner(s) your rabbit decides it wants to pee in. and keep doing it and telling them how wonderful it is for going in it and using it. this is a good one: FAQ: Litter Training
welcome to rabbit parenthood!
