| | | feeling guilty for keeping dog in gated area My puppy is completely tearing up my furniture etc. when loose in the house with no one home. People keep telling me I should crate her when I am not home but there is no way I can do it. It feels so wrong. Anyway, I have a back sun room in my house I don't use so I bought a dog gate to make it a "puppy room" for her. Now, here I am STILL feeling guilty for putting her in there. How do you feel about putting dogs in gated areas? People tell me I am being silly as the room is a decent size (attached is a pic so you can see what I am talking about)...its just when she is in there and whines to get out it breaks my heart. HELP!
PS. Ignore her glowing eyes in the pic, I suck at taking pics. Unless thats her demonic side coming out to get back at me for putting her in there! lol. |

| | | that space is alright. if you dont think she gets enough exercise just walk her when you have time. lots of people have a crate/kennel for when they go away. if your puppy gets whatever it wants by whining it will be a unhappy dog. dogs like to have someone set rules and be the pack leader |

| | | dogs are more happy when you're strict with them than when you spoil them. spoiling makes them anxious. besides wee-adjusted dogs just sleep all day when their owner is away so they don't need a lot of space |

| | | Well, keeping her gated in isn't ideal, but what else are you going to do? She probably doesn't mind that much, because, at the end of the day, she is just a dog. |

| | | that's plenty of space for her. i've got a child's gate in the kitchen, so that when my dogs are left, they don't have the run of the house. whenever they were left, they used to go round the house looking for us and whine; now they just settle down and go to sleep, or play with their toys. don't feel bad! there's nothing cruel about keeping your dog in a room where it's safe. if your dog's very anxious, perhaps you could ask your vet about pheremone sprays? |

| | | don't feel guilty, dogs are arseholes and should have their muzzled botled shut and legs cut off. |

| | | Dont be so silly. Its a dog- it wont really give a shit, once you've gone the likelyhood is that it'll fall asleep until you come home! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
