| | | not sure why i'm posting this (dead cat) on the way home last night our taxi driver accidentally ran over a cat. i was crying for about an hour afterwards, like snot everywhere, wailing out loud, unstoppable sort of crying.
this morning we found the body and tried to find out who it belonged to but it happened right next to an estate of about a hundred houses so it was impossible. eventually we took it to the vets so that if it's microchipped they can contact the owner and if it's not, hopefully the owners will ring the vets anyway when they realise it's missing.
like i said, i'm not sure why i'm posting this. i feel a bit silly for not being able to deal with a dead animal at the age of 21 but i just feel really, really sad about it. like i can't stop thinking about whether it felt any pain (it was obvious that it had been hit in the head so it would have died instantly, but still) and if its owners know yet and if they have little kids who've just lost their pet.
someone please tell me i'm not being stupidly over-emotional about this. |

| | | I would do the same. In fact I cried walking to school once when I walked past a dead cat.
Its normal I guess. I don't knwo what I would do if I ran over a cat.
I don't get upset when I see dead dogs though.. |

| | omg, that's funny, Im the other way round, not much for cats but I get really upset over dogs. I walked passed a dead cat that was right next to the pavement. It was fresh but it was a hot day and it started to bloat. The most ew part of it was its eye was hanging out of its socket a good bit. |

| | | ah good. i feel better now.
when we were going round trying to find out whose it was, the first guy my bf spoke to was like "mate, if it gets hit out there on the road it's classed as a wild animal, just chuck it at the side of the road and get yourself down the pub mate."
how nice. |

| | | Awh, that is so sad. I would have cried. I live in fear of running over a cat (less so a dog, I hate dogs). I once hit a deer, but it was fine...
As far as the cat goes, maybe you should just make a paper poster (NO PICTURE!) saying "Apologises, x colour cat ran over night of the Xth of X. Taken to vets to see if microchipped". That way they will at least know what happened. I would far rather know my cat was dead then spend months wondering when/if it was coming home. |

| | | I would have reacted the same exact way. I cry sometimes when I see roadkill on the road. Whenever I see a dead cat, forget about it. I'm devastated. I am a little too emotional about animals. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
