if i remember correctly.

basically instead of attacking the argument put forward, you attack the person making the argument. this is seen as rebuttal, when it is in fact completely irrelevant.

True, we are about the same height, but he weighs a little more than I do, and my car is smaller than his. We used to live at the same residence years ago. True, we did go to the same high school. I'd also like to challenge you on your opinion that those of us who agree with "mainstream" consensus do so because we are not open-minded. Just because someone doesn't disagree with commonly-held beliefs, this should not be taken as an absolute indication that they have not questioned it. Questioning one's faith does not necessary cause one to abandon it. If one examines one's beliefs, and after doing so discovers they were right all along, I'd say that is anything but assinine.

The majority of your posts are barely comprehensible, poorly laid out and display the reasoning skills of an 8 year out. Reading your 'arguements' is hard work on our part because we have to pick through it and try to work out which of the possible arguements it is that you're actually trying to make.

After that, when people do give you responses based on what any reasonable person would think you are arguing, you reply with 'liberals suck' ' You're not logical' or 'I'll explain again'.

See what a difference that makes? If O_- and lufty were the only people playing Devil's Advocate in this forum, they might have a point. But they'd have to be blind to think that they were. Plenty of other posters are quite capable of not only doing it but carrying it through for more than one fucking post.

That is why these threads go to shit, guys: it's not because you play devil's advocate, it's because you just hector, which is totally not the same thing. The whole point of playing devil's advocate is to challenge people's beliefs. You dont' do that by making one OMG controversial statement and then whining like a pair of self-pitying bitches when anyone disagrees with you.
