Totally. I think with its short muzzle and coarse solid colored fur, it looks like it might have a bit chow in it. It kind of has a weird face, but I think if anyone has seen a lot of mutt dogs before in their lives, they won't think that creature is so crazy lookin.
Personally, this is the craziest lookin mutt dog I've ever seen (not scary though, just weird):
