England. I know there's nothing inherently wrong with the idea in theory, but at the same time there's just something in the national psyche that really objects to the idea of having to have ID. I could see the point of having one card which serves as a driving license, passport, birth certificate ID etc., something that they could just swipe and it would connect them to some national database and they'd know whether you were driving your car, where you were born etc. But that's not what they're talking about. It's just going to be another pointless card for people to carry around and get stolen from them. Seems like the more identification and documentation we have, the easier it is for someone to pretend to be you.

To be honest, if it was implanted it would at least clear a lot of this stuff up. Plus even if no-one did try to steal my identity, there'd be a fair chance I'd just lose the card anyway. But yeah, I know there's some companies that already chip their employees. Tragically, I'd trust my employers to deal with that a lot more than I would my government (well, ok, at the moment the government are my employers. but if they weren't I would).
