Exclamation WWIII starting?

Anyone think WWIII is on its way? I know people thought it was the end of the world when 9/11 happened, but I think now there may be more legit reasons to think WWIII is starting. Canada verses Afghanistan, America verses Iraq & now Israel verses Lebanon & it doesn’t look like its getting any better. I believe the Canadian troops will be done in Afghanistan by the end of August; but I still have a bad feeling about the state of peace the world is in right now.

I'm not saying there is definitely going to be a WWIII; I'm just saying I think it’s a high possibility for this generation. Anyone agree?

I've heard the Cold War being referred to as WWIII. So maybe then this would be WWIV?

I doubt that Europe would care if a bunch of Jews and Arabs kill each other--not enough to get involved and risk their own men. Plus why piss off Hezbollah and have terrorism in their own country? Just being frank, here.

America would care however if Syria and Iran got involved.

Thats true, and it basically should be.

I heard Bill Kristol moot the idea of a WWIII the other day, apparently this recent Arab/Zion conflict is gonna crystallize into WWIII. Doubtful. Though if there is to be a WWIII I’m sure Israel will somehow generate it. But anyway, not likely, cause, ah, war is obsolete. It became obsolete after Nuclear and Atomic weapons. Now theres just geopolitical power conflicts that will not, or cannot, for the survival of the species, crystallise into a "World War". Any sort of global political conflict will pretty much be a “Word War” nowday anyway because everything’s globalised. WWIII might as well have been the Cold War. Bring on WWIV.

I think “World War” is time bound thing, wars between new industrial countries. Now that we know what full scale industrial war encompasses there’s likely to be a lot more respect for diplomacy. "World War" is hopefully an anachronism.

Plus there’s massive asymmetries in world military power capabilities, OECD countries have all the money and weapons and are all allies. Whose gonna fight it? Basically, it’s impossible to have World War in a unipolar world.

Yes I do

One world "Superpower" is headed by an idiot and his Machiavellian/Orwellian troupe of dickheads.

Muslims are sicker of Israel and the US more than ever.

While the US is mired in the mideast b.s., North Korea is trying really really hard to get noticed, and it's currently headed by a psychopath.

Then there's the other Superpower, China, which is becoming a strange mix of capitalism-communism (if there can be such a thing!) With China's population, I bet they'd just love to have the US's resources! and how could we really keep it from happening?

I would think that things are looking their worst since about... the Ice Age. The only difference is, humans are now at the mercy of humans.

These are interesting thoughts, and despite my earlier post, I think you may be right on.

9/11 was the beginning of WWIII

... although a wider WWIII can still be avoided by people demanding peace.

If that's the case, The Netherlands is in war with Afghanistan too.

The Netherlands is taking over I think.
We recently shipped more troops over there to rebuild and help keep the peace.
Two Dutch soldiers died recently when their helicopter crashed while they were checking for places to build the camp I think.
