I'm having trouble understanding why Canadian law lets pedophiles off so easy (see posted story). Especially REPEAT offenders. It doesn't seem right that child rapists are sent to jail for mere months, while their victims live with the ramifications of abuse for the rest of their lives.

That's sad... but it really reminds me of this country (the US for those of you outside of the US... ) as well.

Everyone should go to: http://www.familywatchdog.us and put in their address information. It's interesting to see how many offenders are living in your area. Keep in mind this also includes things such as "flashing" and probably even sneezing in the direction of a child - but still, it's always good to be aware. These are just the REGISTERED people.

So with that said, the fact that, that man was released and it happened again SO reminds me of the United States and the fact that our child sex offenders are allowed to live right next to a school (as many of them do).

I just put my address in there, and two of the pictures who came up on the screen from Wisconsin are regular patrons of the liquor store I work in. I know that one of the dudes assaulted his ex, but the other dude has some kind of offense related to children.

That kind of stuff really alarms me.

Isn't that freaky? Like I said, keep in mind that even people who have done super MINOR things are on there... but it's always good to be aware. It's even more weird to look at the schools listed around your house and see how it appears that all of the little dots migrate around the schools. I can't seem to figure out if it's just because that's what was available to them at the time - or if there was motive behind it. It's more sad than anything else.

Well, even if it's only MINOR, it's still weird. I want to know if some freak is flashing kids in my neighbourhood.

That's an interesting web site. I think the sex offender registry in Canada is only accessible to police - unfortunately.

Do you think that sex offenders deserve that privacy? I don't, personally...even if they have served their time in jail.

I think that people that were doing something as a joke (for instance maybe mooning someone) and then somehow offended people around them - I don't really think I need to view them as a sex offender. I've been mooned before and I just laughed... it was stupid. However if someone has raped someone, I want to know. I know that a lot of people will disagree with me and want to know even if someone flicked a booger at a kid, but that's just me...

I have them ALL around me and honestly my area IS pretty safe. My mom's area is like three times as bad as mine and my friend's area is twice as bad as mine.

Did you know that it's actually illegal to have a site like that in The Netherlands?
A few years ago, some dude who molested kids moved back to his old street (after being released from jail) and people put up flyers with his pic, warning them he was a convicted child molester.
The mother of his victim (who put up the flyers with her friends) got a fine!
A FINE!
He rapes her child, goes to jail, gets out, but she can't warn people about it, something about defamation (sp?) of character.
He payed his debt, let him be.
Sure, but the child has a life sentance.
The mother moved her family away, she never thought he would move back to his old neighbourhood.
It's sick, and I wish we had a databank about child molesters, that way you could at least try to choose the most save location to live.
As long as the law keeps protecting the guilty assholes who do this, they're basically neglecting to protect the victims.

Sending them to jail is a more sever sentence than it sounds.

This is just one of those cases. He refused re-orientation treatment, which has shown to be just as effective as re-orientating lezzies and 'mos.

Our lovely prime minister, Stephen harper then gloriously revealed:

i don't understand why people that get caught with a weed and shit get the same sentences (if not more) then fucking child molesters, it's fucked up.

i'm glad they got those little boys back from that dude, but still, they are going to be messed up for life.
