I'm assuming you are, or you wouldn't have asked me to "honestly" answer you??

This isn't to say that I don't expect certain things from certain cultures or subcultures. This is to say that I don't negatively judge others because of their race/ culture.

Anthropology is the way to go ... I learned so much about people from this class!!!

A lot of people just want to feel better about themselves, and it seems like the only thing they have going for them is that they're white. They might be stupid, they might be whores, they might be poor, but goddammit, they're white.

Not racist, but I do notice certain stereotypes. Of course they aren't all true but some can be.

All cultures will have those who think they are superior to others for one reason or another. Race becomes an easily identifiable excuse for those who feel a need to elevate themselves. Mostly racists are extreme narcissists, I think. Then the sheep follow because they feel an identity to their group.

Interests and intelligence seem to be a much better way to identify with a group than color or national origin in today's world, but racists aren't required to be smart or anything. I have found Chinese people to be quite racist-- and Japan is proud of it's purity, but of course "whites" and Mr Bush are easy targets for haters. Hate lies underneath the skin--in the heart of a person lacking in resonant empathy.

for me all thins ^ things aren't important.

HELL NO!!!! i live in a town with a high Asian presence and iv found these people to be lovely. My bestest ever friend is asian and it pisses me off entirely when i hear anyone make a racist remark or slur. I have a lot of respect for people and dont judge them based on colour, creed etc We are all equal, we are all human, we all work the same... we are all one.

I was recently involved in a discussion like this on another message board. This will only end in a knock down, drag out fight.

I don't think I am. I don't think about what race my friends are.

A good question to go along with this topic is, "Do you stereotype?". At least that was a part of the other conversation I was in. It had to do with stereotyping and then lead into racism.

So yes, do you all stereotype? Do you think it's okay to? Do you think it's needed (as I've read that some people do feel it is... for safety reasons of course... )?

Do you get irritated with yourself when you notice stereotypes, or is it something that you look for? I mean, I heard one woman say that when she sees "bad people" (which she wouldn't explain herself but in Oklahoma "bad people" generally means black people... ) she crosses the street she's walking on and lets "god tell her who is good and who is bad". Do you feel the same way, or do you just find yourself noticing stereotypes?

im not racist and i find racial slurs to be insluting to the target and to the person saying it, showing that they are a close-minded ignorant asshole.
