Forgive me if I don't bounce around like Tigger on crack, but I guess this is kind of cool. Would've been better if he'd done it before Joe Biden embarrassed him into it but hey.

However, Bristol Palin thinks it's wrong for Obama to listen to his wife and kids on this issue (she compares it to Republican Christian women being asked if they are subservient to their husbands), and naturally, Bristol Palin is the best person to rap about traditional marriage.

Elsewhere, North Carolina's electorate have voted to enshrine marriage between a man and a woman as the only legally recognised union, thereby ****ing not only gays and lesbians, but also any of them who might happen to be unmarried cohabiters out of a bunch of legal rights.

I guess some other stuff happened this week but it's mainly been this.

i got my vote by mail ballot yesterday & filled in Obama's name as soon as i could!

he has to win, i can't imagine otherwise. & don't want to.

I too am glad Obama said what he did but he really should have been bringing the issue to the table when Proposition 8 was being pushed in California or perhaps when "don't ask don't tell" was repealed. I'm an Obama supporter, but his timing could really have been a bit better.

Bristol Palin. You can tell she's her mother's daughter, can't you? That remarkable ability to engage mouth before brain, of course.

I just realised. Looking at FB acquaintances I went to school with, SO many of them eventually moved to North Carolina and interestingly enough, none of them are discussing the issue on FB.

It does seem amazing to me. I hear a lot of pundits at the liberal end of US media saying things like "even 10 years ago you couldn't imagine this happening", and I don't really feel like that's the case. I can't remember a time when gay marriage wasn't an issue and I don't really think that the public have been "won over" the way people are saying. It seems more that the Internet has made it really really obvious how much support it has.

Her whole "argument" seems to be "teenage girls are dumb". Makes me wonder if maybe she's regretting, you know, getting knocked up at 17, not getting traditional-married and working her way through a series of utter bellends ever since.

Well, to be fair, I'd be pretty embarrassed too.
