To all you retarded democracy fetishists i say lol. Not everything should be put to a vote, this is surely one of them. Leave it up to a bunch of ****ing tards with ballots, get the **** outta here. This should be dealt with in the courts only obv.
And btw this is why i cant help but roll my eyes at all these "democratic" movements in the east. OMG ITS TEH ARAB SPRING!!!!!!! Yeah, so they can be just like us and enjoy the illusion of choice in a one party system that is controlled by money interests entirely. Fuuuuuuck youuuuuuu.
Those arabs are so lucky. Before, they were anti-gay only by way of unofficial custom. Now they can put it into law just like us! Ah, democracy, brings a tear to my eye. |
You know, I actually find myself agreeing with this, in essence. "OK everybody, let's put it to the tried and tested democratic process and determine if we should "gift" the LGBTQ community with a basic human right that every other adult is entitled to without reservation". There's something a bit patronising surrounding it. Sometimes I wish there was a modern day equivalent of the Weather Underground where they had "jailbreaks" involving the liberation of high school students from classrooms as they handed out copies of their manifesto.
If you think about it, while same sex marriage should unreservedly be an option for all, on the other hand, couldn't "marriage" also be viewed as a dilution of the very basic tenets of ***** theory - the idea of "marriage" being a heteronormative construct? Similarly, the Arab Spring could be viewed as a grotesque imposition of latter day pretensions of Western imperialism i.e. "democracy=good/all other options = bad".
Speaking of anti-gay sentiment in the Arab world....while Iraq was never a gay mecca under Saddam Hussein, being ***** was tolerated to a degree if it wasn't "in your face". Since Saddam was deposed by the West, Amnesty International have produced statistics citing an exponential increase in government sanctioned torture and killing of gays by death squads. Yet another reason to be "thankful" for Western intervention...
