How much longer will Israel wait before opening a can of whoop ass on Iran?

I dont think Bush, a complete nutjob whacko in is own right, has the political capital to take american forces into Iran and make sure those nutjob whackos don't get a nuke.

SO. It has to be Israel right?

Israel cannot allow Iran to have nukes. As soon as Iran has a bomb, Tel Aviv will be vaporized. Their religion mandates it.

Israel will take out Iran. In the backrooms, all of Europe's and the Mid-east's leaders will give out a collective sigh of relief, then they will go back to screaming how evil Israel is.

We will probably also jump into the fray with intense bombing. In the backrooms, all of Europe's and the Mid-east's leaders will give out a collective sigh of relief, then they will go back to screaming how evil America is.

As usual, cowardly Europe will wring their hands while others do the heavy lifting.

We don't have to enter Iran. Just crush them with aerial bombardment.

This has been a long term thing with Iran. Iraq and Afghanistan finally slipped the noose around Iran's neck. We have them surrounded with either our troops or nations not allied with them.

I read that Iran's program is way too spread out and muchtoo far underground to be affected by aerial bombardment. They may be crazy but they are not stupid. There is no one place, there could be literally millions of little pieces to their program here and there. A centrifuge here and a centrifuge over there.

I hate to bring up the dreaded phrase "regime change" in light of how splendidly things are going in Iraq, but a full scale invasion and a toppling of the Mullahs, the head of the snake, may be the only way to be CERTAIN.

There are myriad ways but what will happen is this:
The nation will be decapitated.
The engineers will be killed or assassinated.
Enough of their sites will be taken out to render their nuke system useless.

If we do not stop them, there will be nuclear war. We can do it now while still relatively easy, or we can wait for the nuclear exchange.

I don't care very much about this regime change or rebuilding stuff. Lay them to waste and move on.

Israel is in quite a conflict right now. As it is officially a Jewish country, it has a lot of history going into this situation. In the past, Jews have been oppressed as they have been a minority and generally have not had the force to impose their will on others. Instead, the stronger, the majority, would impose their will on the Jews.

However, now, Israel is presented with a situation where it is a major world power and has the ability to impose it's will where it wants: Iran, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc... (See: The Six Day War). The conflict arises that they do not want to become like the opressors of their history, and yet they do not want to be wiped out.

Any reticitence on the part of the Israeli government about becoming the aggressor in a conflict with other religious countries arises from that problem. I do think that in order to survive, Israel will need to become more aggressive in defending it's interests.

Oh good grief....
This should read ‘America! Fuck yeah!!”.

You aerial bombarded Vietnam jungles – you lost that war.

You aerial bombarded Iraq – you’re losing that one too.

When will you learn that shifting rubble with million dollar missiles you can fire from afar wont win you wars and certainly wont stop you dying. You can only use conventional weapons against conventional targets or else they just bounce off. Do you not see this?

America's survival would be best invested in stopping it’s incessant support for Israeli oppression rather than Daisy Cutters.

In a way I agree. Diplomacy demands that we make it seem like we're bombing the shit out of people for their benefit, but no-one is really fooled. If you want to make people dead, kill them. If you want to make people happy, don't. Badda bing.

So let's just go kill mass amounts of innocent people, even though we hated it when it happened to us on 9/11? Why is it okay to kill them and not okay to kill us?

More practically, we lack the resources to effectively do anything.

If you don't think Iran is not scared in the least of us, or our ability to do anything... think again. Part of the failing of the Iraqi policy is that it robs us of the resources to deal effectively with Iran.

Iran knows this.. and isn't scared in the least. Evidence the administration is incompetent. completely.
