I didn't get to turn on the tv until the very last vote was being cast, but I saw it, gay marriage here in New York!
NY1: NYS Senate Approves Gay Marriage New York Times: Gay Marriage Approved by N.Y. Senate Times-Union: New York legislators approve same-sex marriage
I have nothing especially intelligent or clever to say, but I'm so happy! I'm watching the governor's speech now, and I want to get a transcript for the exact wording of the 'At best, this state has been a beacon for progressive movements...' bit. It means a lot to me that the modern gay rights movement started here, in the year I was born. I'm so glad we're not dragging on this issue anymore. And, as impatient as I am, I will say that I noticed that it went from
impossible! to happening pretty damn fast.
