Time is up.... The incompetent U.S. government is shutting down because of incompetence and ineptitude of maintaining a budget.

It's going to suck and slow down the economic recovery, but at least it'll have the positive side effect of completely torpedoing the Republicans for at least long enough for Barack to get back in.

I don't understand...they just couldn't decide on a budget? I read a quote from some political commentator in the Jezebel article about this who said it was 'women's health and the Republicans' pollution' that was holding up the Budget. Every time I read anything about abortion in America it makes me want to break things.

That is, in fact, the case as I understand it. In essence, the Republicans are trying to attach riders to the bill that will weaken environmental regulations on businesses and defund Planned Parenthood, and the Democrats are basically saying "No, we're not going to pass this stupid **** just so we can have a budget."

And so it goes. The Republican leadership has painted themselves into a corner and they have about 9 hours to find a way out of it before they completely lose every penny of political currency they gained through the tea party "groundswell."
