They aren't all gaylords. Just most, surely? I mean, most champion ice skaters (but far less than all of them) survived the AIDS years. And if a champion figure skater can get out of that era intact... they probably weren't trying hard enough?
Anyone, one of my favouritest ever cheesy straight quotes comes from some legendary Russian skater who was in a pair with his wife. Pairs skating used to be a hotbed of bed swapping. Except for grotesque brother-sister pairs. BAD PARENTS.
