i live in california.
last year my state had a proposition, which would ban gay marriage and write discrimination into the state constitution for the first time.
it was a very tight vote.
alot of people were apathetic, and figured that this kind of legislation would never pass in California, but due to a very vigilant right-wing highly religious voter turn out, it did.
now, there are forces at work attempting to overturn prop 8, and their case is about to go to the state supreme court. gay rights groups, concerned citizens, and supporters of transparency in government are asking that the prop 8 trials be broadcast on TV (much in the same manner of CSPAN). as this is such an important issue as well as a highly controversial and hot-button topic, i feel that televised coverage of the trials are important to our understanding and acceptance of whatever decision eventually comes from the trial.
this is a petition, i'm asking you to sign, if you support the desire of california citizens to have the option to view the gay marriage debate, as it happens, in the california supreme court.
Friday, Jan 8th, is the last day to sign.
Monday, Jan 11th, the trials are set to begin.
ANYONE can sign -- you do not need to be a california resident. and if you want to put in a bull**** american zipcode (i recommend 90210), you could probably sign it if you're not even in this country.

hearthug and thank you,
