It's well over 15 million. They don't include the under-employed or people not collecting unemployment in those figures.

in england it's all you ever hear about. . .
here there are tons of people applying to the same jobs as so many people seem to be out of work. there are hardly any jobs advertised in local papers too. agencies say they only want people who have been trained already 'due to the recession' loooool. its pretty rubbish. lots of shops have closed down too.

i dont know what the figures in the north are at the minute, but i do know that when i went to sign on the other day, they told me i only have to do it once a month as they dont have the staff to cope with the amount of people

Its over 410,000. Thats terrible for a population of 4 million

Yeah, when I spoke to Office Angels they were practically saying it's not worth applying til I told them I had 5 years office experience. I think they're getting swamped with applications from people who are just applying for anything. A lot of places have just said no to new applicants completely because they're having to deal with the backlog. Hysteria sucks ***.
