I once wrote a letter of complaint to The Times. They were being massively Daily Mail-esque and I told them so. It was during the beginning of the whole Amanda Knox thing, and even though I think she is guilty, I took massive offense to an article that essentially said "She must be guilty because she had a lot of one night stands and she slept with her current boyfriend ON THE FIRST DATE". I was seriously reading it thinking WTF, what is this, 1910 when if a girl has sex outside of wedlock, she must be a sexual deviant ready to kill? At no point in the article did it ever say "Her boyfriend is clearly a sexual deviant too because he also had sex on the first date". It was such lazy, bad reporting and so laughingly out of touch with most people's attitudes.
Oddly enough they never published it. Even though I wrote it in deeply offended, but serious tones.
