What I don't get is, like, don't people realize they're walking on a person?

Little info here - I had an 1/2 price sale on at my e-commerce store and sold out of stock in two days. People are crazy for the sales. I think it is some thing to do with the recession.

There was 2000 people pushing to get through the doors. I saw on the news that the crowd pushed the door in and it fell on the victim who was then run over.

It tends to be hard to prosecute a mob. Local unions are suggesting that WalMart was negligant, perhaps that will go somewhere.

By the way, I've not seen the miscarriage thing anywhere but this article. And the story doesn't make sense as written. The emt's just happened to be carrying around a doppler stethescope? Which she was pregnant enough that you would definately hear the fetal heartbeat on (before they first checked mine at 10 weeks, they said it didn't mean anything if they couldn't hear it at that point), and yet also was well enough to be just walking around talking to reporters after losing the baby?
