i don't understand why people do it on webcam. why would you invite people to watch?

i don't understand why the police point a laser guided weapon at a corpse. was it racialism? would they point a laser guided weapon at a white corpse? only zoanthropy can answer questions like these

OMFG, did anyone hear about the lady who on July 15, 1974 shot herself on LIVE television! Her name was Christine Chubbuck. Search it up if you like.


But this is fucking awful. I can't believe no one did anything! They just watched him kill himself. That's just fucking horrible.

I actually (vaguely) remember the Christine Chubbuck story! I didn't see the newscast or anything but remember the story making front page at the time it happened.

As for that poor guy who committed suicide on cam, I wonder how the mods on that forum feel now, dismissing his post as a mere prank. I don't know how the people who encouraged him to do it can sleep at night....

But from the description of Christine's suicide, her video would be WAY cooler.

Christine Chubbuck flicked her long dark hair back away from her face, swallowed, twitched her lips only slightly and reached with her left hand to turn the next page of her script. Looking down on the anchor desk she began to read: “In keeping with Channel 40’s policy of bringing you the latest in”—she looked up from the script, directly into the camera and smiled a tentative smile. Her voice took on a sarcastic tone as she emphasized “blood and guts…and in living color.” She looked back down at her script, her left hand shook almost unnoticeably.

Her right arm stiffened. “We bring you another first.” Her voice was steady. She looked up again into the camera. Her eyes were dark, direct and challenging. “An attempted suicide.” Her right hand came up from under the anchor desk. In it was a .38 caliber revolver. She pointed it at the lower back of her head and pulled the trigger. A loud crack was heard. A puff of smoke blew out from the gun and her hair flew up around her face as though a sudden gust of wind had caught it. Her face took on a fierce, contorted look, her mouth wrenched downward, her head shook. Then her body fell forward with a resounding thud against the anchor desk and slowly slipped out of sight.

Is that the biggest fuck you ever or what?

apparently her family owned the only copy of the video. after it was used as evidence in the death inquiry, it was destroyed.

Aw, that's so sad. People are way too stuck up obsessing about emoness and attention-seeking these days. Who cares about that, like? If there's a possibility they might actually do harm to themselves, there is a health risk involved and it's a serious issue. I can't believe people were actually egging him on. It's like that extreme self-injurer in the other forum. The thread was full of idiots calling her an attention whore.

Well that's kind of because we don't know whether the Internet is private or public yet. I mean, why else would someone try to off themselves in public?

Someone definitely left a suicide note on KR before. I doubt it was the only note they left but it seemed like it was a goodbye to people here? On the old board. Or maybe it just seemed incredibly final but they were actually just leaving the board, and I got it incredibly wrong. I don't have a copy of it. Think they might have been called Punkndrublic or something like that?

That Christine Chubbock thing is unbelievable, sounds like something out of a film.
