| | | N & P drama thread I saw someone with a bumper sticker that said "R.I.P. America" today. I thought that was probably a bit dramatic. Has anyone else seen this?
But I wanted a thread in this forum where we could talk about N & P people.
One question that's been on my mind: Where is vegyrex? I actually want to hear what he says about the election. Was he one of those bitter Hillary people who wouldn't vote for Barack? |

| | | The United States of America most likely has 50 more years. To me this is going to mean the end of individual self-determination. I'll be dead anyway, but I have worked for some great people over the years. These are people most of you will never experience the same way that people like myself have. The reason is that they LIKED and RESPECTED my spirit and independent nature. Things change and one is best to adapt to their environment. I met the great Jesse Owens, and Vince Lombardi. Who are they? Tony Dunge and Johnny Rodgers?
All I'm saying is that the dream has come. How much longer will it last?

I don't see many bumper stickers, except those stupid "Princess On Board" ones that make me want to smash their windows in and shit on their passenger seats.

Many dreams have come true for past generations; with post-post modernism it seems the dream gets diluted and forgotten. I had a black friend/brother in my fraternity at college. He was the only person of color or ethnicity that I knew of the predominant greek houses. We also worked together our first year out of college. He told me many things about being black in America. I remember during initiation when I was told by my Big Brother that this man was not going to be accepted into the Brotherhood; it was our final night after a week of Hell(hazing). I walked away. I wouldn't have anything to do with a group like that. I didn't care how important they all thought they were. I walked. My Big Brother had to calm me down and talk about it. They really wanted me in their society. Sorry, no deal!
It was a night I'll never forget. My dream was connected to my black friend's dream. I found out what kind of a person I was back then. I came of age. Things changed in that house. I came back under protest and they promised to contest the matter with the Higher Ups from the Regional Chapter. They approved my friend, my brother.

| | | there's already "Dont Blame Me: I Voted for McCain" stickers in my neighborhood. but you will be reminded that people RIPPED OFF my Obama sticker, so my city is a little fucked in the head anyway.
I kind of want to make "You can thank me: I voted for Obama." just to be a dick. but i dont' want my tires flattened.
i don't post in here unless it's election year or World Trade Centers fall down.
so i can't tell you anything about regulars.

| | | there was this dude that was waving a McCain/Palin sign on a freeway bridge over I-5 every morning for a whole week before the election. rain or shine he was out there. the guy was dedicated. i saw him once more about a week after the election. he was waving a big American flag and holding a baby.. presumably his daughter? it just made me think about all the symbolism that has been loaded into the flag these last few years, and what it means to be patriotic, or American. and whether it's possible to salvage the flag now. the Brits have become disassociated from their flag. Americans are still trying to define what the red white and blue really means

The end of the world, the end of civilisation, global warming, the end of fossil fuels, they've always been fifty years away. Like, we had science textbooks in school that said oil reserves would run out by 1985 and 2010. Makes that whole "hey, we just needed a big number!" thing seem pretty honest and logical, tbh.

Yeah, we don't want to spoil it and ruin the ending, but I wouldn't expect anything anymore rewarding than the end of The Sopranos.

Party membership is pretty low here even among decided and dedicated voters, so I guess people have to channel their "look look, take notice of my views just because you happen to be standing there!!" energy elsewhere.

| | | Despite being a life-long Lib Dem voter I actually had to remind myself who Nick Clegg is.
I like that those who do put posters up in their window or whatever are at least normally supporting a party rather than a Priministerial candidate or an MP. Saves me the trouble of looking up a probably common surname just to figure out whether to throw a rock through their window or not.
