Yeah, I think they had something similar happen in Tokyo a year or so ago. Basically people treating it like emergency daycare or as a punishment for naughty kids.

18?
Isn't that supposed to be an adult?
well maybe not seeing that you still can't legally drink alcohol.
I think its good they're redefining the law against abuse of its system.

Well it's specificity vs. intent of the system. You'd hope that people would have the common sense to realise that a hospital wouldn't just be saying "We'll take care of your bolshy teens", but then, you turn on the TV and pretty much everyone else seems to want to do it, so maybe it's not fair to criticise the parents so much.

my parents abandoned my littlest brother when he was 13. they were sick of it all. i think it should be legal. my parents happened to have lots of money and arent drug abusers, just assholes, so they were able to have him fostered out for a monthly sum (i think they paid 2k a month). but really. him being with the foster family was the best thing they could have done.

parents should be allowed to give up children if they dont want them. if there hadnt been such a stigma, i think my parents would have done that long long ago. to all of us, but my sister, who for some bizarre reason they loved above all.
