it's not about morals or ethics, it's about maintaining a balance of power for purely self interested reasons. georgia joining nato simply means that russia is far less likely to interfere in its internal affairs. it means georgia effectively comes into the european sphere as so many former soviet republics have, in favour of remaining under the influence of an increasingly bellicose russia. the fact that russia had been arming, funding and training seperatists in georgia, whilst concurrently giving them all russian passports, illustrates that russia still sees georgia as its backyard. the fct that russian 'peacekeepers' were in georgia was more about russian power than it was for any desire on the georgian part to have them there, again another reason for trying o join nato.

Georgia had to go and deal with Russia all by themselves. The US didn't ask them to. So have at it Georgia. Go take care of those Russians.

Did anyone ever decide who was to blame in all this? Besides that it certainly was NOT the USA. Was it Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili?

Does the guy on the right of Mr. Cheney look like he just snorted a couple of lines of peruvian flake or is it just me?
