NAGOYA -- A top figure skating coach is being investigated after a junior high schoolgirl he instructed accused him of raping her, police said Wednesday.
The skater, a girl in junior high school, has filed a criminal complaint with the Aichi Prefectural Police, accusing the coach of rape resulting in injury.
The coach has since resigned from the club where he came in contact with the girl and has been hospitalized since late April.
Police said the coach is suspected of raping the girl when she stayed at his home in Nagoya in early April.
The coach is a former national junior figure skating champion and currently a director of the Japan Figure Skating Instructor Association. He has coached past Olympians.
Names of those involved in the case have not been revealed. |
