Ha ha ha. 'If we can't sell it to them with sex, what can we use? Ah, glory...Being a priest is REALLY BUTCH.' Brightened my day at least Quote:
Roman Catholic priesthood 'is for real men', NY recruitment drive says
By Philip Sherwell in New York
Last Updated: 3:34pm BST 19/04/2008
The Roman Catholic Church in New York has launched a slick recruitment drive, drawing on modern advertising techniques, catchy slogans and the power of the internet, in an effort to halt the dramatic drop in young men joining the priesthood.
Telegraph TV: Benedict XVI visits the Park East synagogue in New York
Pope asks Americans to be 'genuinely Catholic'
Pope prays with victims of clergy sex abuse
Posters and commercials bearing such robust messages as “The World Needs Heroes” and “You Have to be a Real Man if you want to become a Priest” have been distributed at college sports games and in cinemas.
Senior clergy hope that some old-fashioned holy star power will bolster the campaign when Pope Benedict XVI visits St Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, just outside New York City, for a prayer service and youth rally.
Hundreds once studied to become priests at the seminary, but nowadays its hallways and classrooms can be a lonely place.
Just 60 men are currently studying there and only six will be ordained this year.
But today St Joseph’s will host more than 20,000 young Catholics.
During the celebration, videos extolling the merits of an ordained life, including footage of dashing priests on New York’s mean streets, will be appear on big screens, while clergy and seminarians from across the US will spread the word among the crowds.
blah blah some boring stuff about the pope's trip to America

| | | I think they should make mandatory to have a history of substance abuse.
the only decent non-preachy religious types are the reformed addicts.

Can any of you see the picture I put in my first post, by the way? If you can't I'll be really disappointed because that's the best bit. It's not showing up on my computer today for some reason. I have re-posted it below because it was mainly the reason I found it so funny. url to site |

| | | You kind of feel the sub-slogan should go "It takes a real man to destory a child's faith in God forever through the act of paedophilia. They might be crying and bleeding, but real men don't stop. Quitters not wanted. If we move you to another parish, you'd better keep it up at the new one."
I really hate organised faiths. The Catholics particularly get on my nerves (not day to day ones but Catholics in charge). |

| | | As it turns out: Catholics priests must be celibate; i.e.: never having sex with a woman.
They never said anything about having sex with children... especially boys. Right?
I am so sickened by this 'religion'.

That's because you're focusing on bad men who are exploiting a loophole in order to completely misread something that is otherwise made completely fucking clear in the text. That's my belief anyone. Unless you believe that we are all potential pederasts if deprived of sex for any length of time, I don't think it's reasonable to criticise the religion for what is basically a few people's personal problem. |

There are inumerable people who have come out to discuss their painful experiences after the first kids admitted it happened to them. Just imagine how many it happened to before. Imagine how many will never admit it happened to them. Imagine how many it's happening to right now.
There is verifiable proof that the church has and continues to protect these predators by switching them from church to church, etc.

Most Catholics I know have thought very lowly of the last two popes. As for the molested, I don't know, is there actually a higher percentage of child molesting priests as there are, for example, child molesting teachers, or other professionals who work with children? |
