This is not uncommon practice among secular organisations, I promise you. Until someone actually kills and rapes someone and sells the signed photos of it smeared with their spooge on eBay, most of the time schools and hospitals will deal with these people as if it's an arse-covering exercise, moving them for the sake of PR rather than because they give a shit. And to be fair, a lot of allegations are unfounded. So... I dunno. It's shit, and I won't claim the Catholic church isn't worse than other organisations. But they ARE just doing what anyone else would. I'm biased because I speak as a Catholic, but I honestly don't think blaming the religion does any good. The individuals responsible should be punished, because they did it. That's all. |

How can they allow this to happen and try to hide it like any ol secular place? It's absolutely disgusting.

| | | the method the catholic church uses to introduce young boys to 'the priesthood' has been heavily criticised by many psychologists (i don't mean the ones you pay $5000 for a half hour sessions, i mean people who actually have a good grip on human behaviour and development) and child welfare charities.
picture a young boy, typically 14 although maybe as young as 12. he is sent to a closed environment where his only interaction is with other boys of a similar age and older priests (the odd asexual nun and monk may cross his path). baring in mind that the catholic church already has a problem with paedophile priests (anyone who denies this is in denial), there is a fair chance of sexual abuse. add that onto the fact that they are isolated from girls of their own age (or women in general) and that during their sexual development they are surrounded by boys of their own age. what the hell do you think happens in these schools? what happens to these boys when they grow up and are reintroduced to society?
if they've been abused there is a high chance of them abusing young boys. if they have sexual urges towards the opposite sex they are sexually immature - they never fooled around when they were kids. who will they target? women or girls? unlikely women (although it happens) as they're probably not going to go along with. i'm not saying girls do, they're just more easily manipulated.
i realise it probably doesn't happen this way so much any more if they're advertising for men. i mean, who would in their right mind would sign their son over to the catholic church nowadays? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
