What do peeps think about Christianity being forced upon prisoners in order to guarantee an early release? It works on the basis that they have to practice Christianity for a year in jail and then have to join a church when they get out?

There was some prat bishop on the radio this morning talking about how actually people who want our public institutions to be secular are doing it because they want to offend everyone because they're meeeeean. I guess that was probably about this.

Eitherway, I've never got why anyone is fooled that converting to a religion will make someone a better person.

that's what it said on BBC. It came from the USA as officials in the US are proclaiming it actually has cut figures on re-offending. It's bullshit as far as im concerned.

like, the prisoners get more visitation rights and a special xmas dinner and stuff, while the rest of the prisoners don't get the same benefits.

Good point. It's hypocritcal religious bullshit. It's a sly way for christianity to proclaim its better than the other religions and to show of what power it has.

Great article. That's the name of the initiative that was on the BBC article. It's called InnerChange. It's been called by UK MP's "fundamentalist Christianity" with its extreme stance against homosexuality and the like.

I'm surprised it's going down so well in prisons.
