| | | Ok, so on my way out the door I grabbed Hitchens' book on the Clintons and I've only gotten through the preface and half of the first chapter and I'm already more disgusted with them than I had ever been before.
dirtyplotte, I highly recommend you read it.

my main message is: question every rumor. to question it is not to say that it's false. |

Anyone who runs for the highest political office in the country successfully is going to have an ego. Leaders govern/rule people. So having a high opinion of oneself would naturally go with the nature of running for office.
In the course of competing for the position in either a democracy or a republic, the leader must win the favor of the voters, which means you must be able to manipulate the opinion of the populace. You can accomplish that through charm and wit, or discrediting your opponent, or various combinations of that. It seems that the Clinton campaign, particularly in recent weeks has unfortunately resorted to the latter approach -- but they're getting what they deserve for that behavior by losing in South Carolina. |

| | | I see nothing wrong with discrediting an opponent. But doing it with lies and insults (no matter how subtle) is down right nasty.
I should clarify, insults based on things beyond your control, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. You can insult someone's record all you like and then it's up to the rest to make informed decisions on it.
