yes, an acceptable solution to the abortion debate is simply not having it and letting people do what they want.
however, i think it's significant to remember that the abortion debate is essentially centred around the issue of personal autonomy.
the animal rights debate is something entirely different.
i'm no animal rights activist, though it's undeniable that animals do get treated shitty, and i don't think that's right.
animal rights
is important, we're nothing more than big-brained monkeys.
for some reason there are lots of us who think this gives us the right to rape the planet and every other being existing here because of that.
and i can't really condemn standing up for one's beliefs.
but i think that there's a right way to go about doing such things, and a pointless way.
those who just bark about animal cruelty and show us all sorts of horrendous pictures and whatnot - what exactly are they
doing about the
issue (beyond raising awareness, i suppose)?
being extreme in your convinctions does not necessarily mean you're doing anything to advance your cause; in fact, being extreme can often be detrimental to it.
seems to be a lot of energy spent for nothing if you ask me.
all of that said, i can't fuckin stand it when people ride
my ass about eating meat.
such aspects of the animal right's debate, as you said ophiel, i believe is up to each individual to decide.
ensuring that the animals we consume are handled properly while they
are alive?
i think that's worthy of debate.
