| | | What Iraq Is Really Like well, if you're curious about breaking the Murdoch-ed media cycle of crap about the "War on Terror", and would like to see what the war is like for those Iraqi citizens who also have to endure it, you should check out this documentary. it's by Michael Franti (who's a musician/poet/activist), and was independently produced/edited/directed/paid for -- so no major studios are involved (though Amnesty International funded a large part of it, i think), it's well put together and gives you an inside look at civilian life in Iraq and what the war is like from the other end. He also visits Israel and Palestine. here's the trailer: |

| | | um sortof. this is less about the whole 9/11 truth campaign, and not at all a conspiracy theory type program.
it's a humanitarian documentary, showing us a realistic portrait of our 'enemy'. and i dont think it has a big 9/11 connection, i mean, asside from the necessary; it's a movie about peace. not about 9/11 or politics. |

You can join the army or you can work for the CIA...

| | Iraq is like the wild west. The man with the biggest gun rules. United States is running Iraq. The Iraqi woman knows what she has to do if she wants the American soldier to give her food and water.
U.S. gives visas so Americans can also go to Iraq for up to 30 days and do what ever they want to in Iraq. |

Stop being so brilliantly delusional.

As someone who has a fiance who is in the ARMY and a number of friends who are currently in Iraq and one that just got back from TWO tours of duty over there [both in which he had EXTREMELY close calls with death] this post is incredibly offensive.
All of your posts seem like jokes to me, but this one was offensive. Obviously you have NO FUCKING CLUE what really goes on over there. Perhaps you should watch this video and then you should also talk to troops so you can get the gist of what it's really like.
Every where you go there will be those that will be corrupt, but the majority of the troops that are out there on the front line are fighting for their lives and the lives of their battle buddies. You have no idea what anyone there goes through or what it is like. |

| | | As the poor SOB Iraqis live in fifth and destructions; Americans are planning on getting really drunk all over America to bring in the New Year.
Americans really do not give a hoot about Iraq. Americans might say they care only to be politically correct.
As Osama Bin Ladin hides like a scared rat in a muddy dark cave, Americans all over are celebrating, partying, getting VERY drunk, having sex, eating clean food and having more sex as Osama Bin Ladin and Al Qaeda put out crappy video’s that amounts to nothing. |

This Iraqi thing is being blown out of proportion because Iraq does not have a Army; United States should just completely take over Iraq and the war will end just like that... |

| I have to say, why would this make him any less biased that Murdoch's media? He's clearly got a vested interest, and I'm guessing that, if there were a bunch of Iraqis having a big party one day (rather than very visibly living in permenant fear), he wouldn't show it. I'll admit I didn't watch the film, but I'm if anything more skeptical of alternative media than I am of the mainstream. A lot of these people invest huge amounts of money doing things which Murdoch's employees just do for a pay-cheque, so who's got the most reason to lie? |

| | | I'm watching it right now. I think it would make more of an impact on me if it wasn't basically just a vehicle for this guy and his music(which imo is pretty weak, and not as great as he seems to think it is), more than a documentary about civilian life in Iraq. The best part is when the Iraqi musicians get a bit of a look in.
It would be great if Amnesty International and all of the other organisations would help artists who actually are civilians in war torn countries make documentaries about being a civilian in a war torn country. If they're worried about bias, maybe one from each side or whatever - the bias is just as bad from non-civilians anyway, either for Peace no matter what or supporting the war no matter what.
It;s like when Bob Geldof and co. go on about Africa and use music to raise money for them, while massaging their own ego and then shove African music and culture under the carpet when it comes to LiveAid...
It's condescending. |

| | | It's frustrating that more people will turn up to see Coldplay than some actually African musicians, but hey, what can you do? Bums on seats, etc. Of course, if they'd actually charged those people admission, rather than "raising awareness", it would've made more sense.
I'm really down on charity showboating. It's nice that they want to do something, but if the way that they do it just furthers the attitude that causes the problem in the first place, I don't really get the point. |

| | i heard about this before. i'm not a huge Michael Franti fan but he's got guts to go sing his folkie protest songs to soldiers on the frontline. is it true that he served in the military too? Quote:
