Its still the Teddies fault for being called Muhammad, and the kids fault for calling it him.
I deem in the logic of Sudanese law the little kids get shot and the Teddy Bear gets 40 lashes.

But then its ok for people to be called Muhammad, so if it could be argued that the teddy bear was a concious entity no one gets anything?

(Please no one be offended by all of this, I have nothing against Islam at all and the woman should have been more thoughtful really, but Sudanese law does use Islam as an excuse for being completely fucking redicullous.)

Was just going to say......isn't that really popular?? I don't get it at all. Unless she said, this bear represents Muhammed or is named after him, the specific prophet. Any direct reference? Every third person is called Muhammed there.

I wonder what they'd say if they saw a big black square covering Muhammed in that South Park (I hate Family Guy) episode. I mean if the bear is offensive, I mean.....proper symbolism on tv should start world war III right?

I don't know, I wonder if the fact that she's a woman too comes into account because women's sentences for any crime are usually harsher from what Ive heard.
I think its ridiculous that they have so little understanding and compassion for others, considering they think they are one of the most devoted religions to God. They have the right the say they are extremely offended but their system of punishment is is something I could never sympathise with of have respect for and if that makes me anti-Islamic/sharia law than so be it. It's a matter of basic human rights.

I understand where you're coming from. Perhaps it's because I'm tired and pissy, but this teddy bear thing is trying even my patience. It's not the teacher's fault, but I wonder why she ended up in the sudan anyway?

but. the problem with the mindset of being "anti-Islamic" is that it assumes "Islamic" represents one thing. As with christianity, not even muslim scholars agree on how their religion should be run. so I think being anti-islamic is just being intellectually lazy basically. just like being racist. when people can't be bothered to acknowledge the complexities of social and religious issues, it's just plain laziness or simplemindedness, take your pick.
