Comedy Central has once again censored South Park. And I'm so fucking angry that I could die... or better yet, I could find Aaron and just smack him upside the head with one of those giant inflatable clowns.

It's a pet peeve, although at least in this case the subject was actually suppression of expression, although not by the entity forbidden to do so under the first amendment. I can't count the number of times I've seen people whup out the first amendment because someone else said they didn't like something, without every saying a thing about getting it suppressed, by Congress or anyone else. The First Amendment does not cause artistic expression that sucks not to suck.

| | | This is why i honestly believe Southpark is one of the most important media products that exists internationally. What other programme has the balls to tackle delicate issues by attacking both sides of an arguement. In my mind no TV show even comes close to breaking down difficult issues and presenting them to viewers in an easy to digest fashion.
The only way we can accept and not fear religions is if we understand it and embrace it. Laughing at it is simply part and parcel of this, just as it is with all comedy shows that break down barriers such as race, religion, gender and taboos.
Its these subtle conformities which will slowly engulf our lives. So subtle they're often unnoticable, but dangerous non-the-less for the devious mental programming they execute.
Back to the thread - Comedy Central sucks balls. |
