| | | I Hate America I really do. Earlier I was talking to one of my friends online from The Netherlands, and we were discussing each of our country's laws and restrictions. America is suppose to be "the land of the free", but I just don't see it. Everything is fucking censored on television and radio, legal drinking age is 21 (they are trying to move it up), cannabis can get you years in prison, uniforms are becoming mandatory at public schools throughout the nation, gays are treated like absolute shit here, just so much shit.
Actually the occurrence that triggered this was the US's edition of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. They fucking removed "Addicted" because it was a motown-inspired song about cannabis. Are you kidding me? I have to order an import now because that was one of my favorites on the album.
Bullshit. |

Bullshit. | Personally I'd rather some things be censored. After living in the Netherlands and seeing their disgusting decadence.

| | | I quite like school uniforms. I must say. Send your kid to the hippie Rudolf Steiner school if you're that aggrieved by them. Eurythmy is pretty cool!

| | | Well. I don't hate America. I just don't understand some Americans. Yeah, there are many restrictions here. I think Americans should pay more attention to what our elected politicians are doing. And hold them accountable. And use their own brains instead of believing what is put in their face by the media. I mean I just wonder sometimes how stupid can everyone actually be. Of course, I watch way too much Bill Maher. And, I don't think America is the only place that has corrupt rich people holding positions. I think it is just about everywhere. And I really can't judge anywhere else until I am actually part of the equation. I mean. People are going to be more or less patriotic. So, I don't think you are going to get unbiased information from your friends on the internet. |

The bitches go into overdrive, outslutting each other. School takes a back seat. People say if "no uniform day" was every day, not just on special days, it would seem normal to the kids, and they wouldn't be competing, but every time I've seen those kids out of school...

And girls are forced to wear dresses, and I remember being complained about a too colorful shirt underneath my uniform. You could only see a tiny tyny bit of it. Talk about raising children as sheep. |

Talk about raising children as sheep. | I saw a huddle of about 15 emos on monday and they looked more identical than any group in school uniforms, then i went to work and found approximately 85 men wearing shirts and ties, and 60 women wearing almost identical black or beige 'business' attire. |

That's such bullshit. When you get out of school at 4pm and on the weekends, go nuts with your clothes but when you are at school or WORK, you are expected to wear uniform. That's life. Didn't stifle my individuality and our school was fucking anal with plaid kilts and cravats.
The only people that don't get a break that I feel sorry for is long hair boys, its not like they can cut it for school and put it back on afterwards. |

The last school I was at had a uniform, and loads of checks, but it was also the "metaller" school, and fully half the senior boys had long metal hair, I'd swear it.
And people who worry about "sheep" would not be comforted by what they see most kids wearing by choice, believe me...

| | | Ok, as an American I can say that I am pretty disgusted with this country. I realize this opens the flood gates for some idiot (usually American) to say "well move". And really, let's not be retarded; it isn't as easy as "Oh gee, let me pack up my fancy sofa, my cashme scarf and my copy of "Live Through This" and jaunt off to Switzerland in search of the perfect world. I mean, really.
America is disgusting, though. There is still this mind-set that the US is the Top Dog, when in reality we are just getting positioned to be someone's bitch.
Logic and depth has been replaced by denial and glitz -- and not even real glitz, it's the glitz that is formed from fake tanner, capped teeth and botox injections. Instead of literary heros and do-good politicians we get Paris Hilton and Larry "Just put the head in" Craig. Try to find anything intelligent on television that is consumed by a massive audience -- a sign that perhaps there still are thinking-man's Americans left on the planet -- and you'll end up with "Dancing with the Stars" and "America's Most Smartest Model".
I don't know what the next election will do, but things are not looking pretty in the good old USA. |

Yes, America definitely has its problems.... but man. so does fucking Europe. it's just not as obvious.

Bullshit. | America is addicted to oil! Not cannabis. That is why it was censured. Same with the gays, they don't buy enough gas, car parts, chevys, straight porn... |
