Luft, there you go sugarcoating things again! When things happen its because of the garden gnome overlord. He wants his people to be freed.

logic is clearly what makes you "human"..... what do you think seperates humans from the rest of the mammals? The capacity to reason...capacity to think...... in short, logic..... |

| | | Because of what a couple of you said, that humans have emotions, logic, ect. that are better than a cat's (for example) somehow. When cats or other animals are sleeping or "staring into space", what human can even guess what they are doing.
Humans are o.k. to serve the felines, if they're really good at it. |

And logic is far lower level (well, it's the lowest level) than emotion - and only higher level species can deal with higher level concepts such as emotion.
You're not only saying something that is completely wrong, but you're confusing logic (what makes the world go around) with a psychological concept of reasoning.
When bad things happen, acceptance is obviously the logical/reasonable solution in the long term, however, there's still an important factor of emotion which is what keeps us sane, keeps us real, gives us reason to exist.
Quite interesting you brought this up actually, as its something I thought about for a long time a while ago - and I'd come to pretty much your conclusion - that if you can control your emotion then you can be far more successful. However, after talking to my mum about it, I realised that a balance was the best solution.
Its like a scale, you're advocating being at the end of the scale which relies completely on reason and no emotion, at the other end are people that allow their emotion to control them.
I drew this diagram aaages ago...
^ pretty self explanatory. The grey is a rough guide of how many people there are (bell curves ftw)
You're very much aligned to the left end of the scale, most normal people float around the middle bit (it obviously varies, depending on the situation), whereas a lot of girls I know would be far closer to the right side.
Each end offers its advantages, however, going to the extreme in any situation is never a good thing
Case rested. Who agrees?

And that's not including the fact that until the victory of communism (with a small c) society will always be a battle of classes (all history is the history of class struggle) we will never have Zen balance in society.
Therefore, zen fascism doesn't exist. It's just fascism.
And I have no idea why I just typed all that. |

| | logic and reasoning are two seperate things.
logic is a mode of reason. a fuller reasoning should consider more than just the logic of any given situation. Quote:

| the first paragraph needs some quantitifiers otherwise is makes no sense. shit can be out of control without being outwith my control. it may be pedantic, but you're supposed to be preaching logic here - at least be specific in your writing.
as for the second paragraph: sorry, i must have missed the whole arguement needed to quantify that things are the way they should be. additionally, can you explain a practical application of aligning oneself with the inevitable flow of events? i always thought things were probable and improbable.
stop defeating yourself before you've even started. |
