it's not stupid, it's fooled.
as in: the whole thing, every year we get a whole lecture about the greatness of the founder.
in the same way that old punx used to get all moist and stiff about Russian socialism and have a blind spot about Stalin and Lenin, gulags and prison camps -- Americans get a blind spot about slavery, genocide of indigenous, rule of thumb etc.
