A "commission for equal treatment" () decided against homosexual men donating blood because having unprotected sex with more than one partner is a health risk.
I got really angry over this news, because not only does it unjustifiably accuse all gay men of having unprotected sex with multiple partners, it doesn't leave room for the fact that:
1. Tests can determine health
2. Lesbo's and heterosexuals can have unprotected sex as well
I mean they don't ask hetero girls "Are you a slut?" before donating blood, so why ask a guy if he's gay?
And this whole commission is a joke to begin with, they ruled that Muslims in government jobs who are dealing with people don't have to shake hands with women if they feel it's not accepted by their religion.
The women who wanted to be treated equal and went to this commission for a fair treatment lost.
That and this ruling isn't really treating all people equally is it?
This made me really sick, I was glad and proud to be living in a country which was so openly gay liberated, and now we're slipping.

I think that whole commission is a joke.I think The Netherlands got in this mess due to the christian gouvernement we have had for quite some years now. And since the last election there is this political group in the gouvernement who didnt even used to have woman in it. They are called "de kristenunie" which translates into the christian unity. 'They are far to right winged and concervative for our country.

I am so getting the fuck out of the netherlands if they keep this bullshit up.

Neither can British, or American. The whole ban is unscientific and homophobic Quite a few countries have recently seen the light and overturned their bans on gay males donating for these reasons. It's not as if they can afford to be picky, with the shortage of donors around.

They should discriminate on the basis of actual risk instead of orientation. It's dumb to accept blood from a guy who could have had 1000 unprotected female partners, but not from a man who had one same-sex *~experience*~ in, like, 1965.

When even the Dutchies are being illiberal, it's a sign of the apocalypse.
