| | | I worked with a guy who said dog worked really well in stews. I was a little put off, but he has eaten it and I haven't, so I suppose he is the expert. He was heavily into Climie Fisher - odd for a Chinaman - and we kind of bonded over weird music tastes. But not over dog.

| | | Sorry, I have to ask: where? Because, regrettably, if it's in Korea or wherever, it's no more our business than it is a Muslim extremist's concern how we in the West dress our women. |

| | OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
China eats anything that moves. They used to use Chow dogs (traditionally bred for fur and meat) Well at least they dont make great pets and their temprament isnt great. Ugh, Dont spread your doggy slaughter to other gorgeous breeds of LOVELY LOVELY DOGGIES.
Ive also heard cnversely that dog meat tastes yuck. Most non-vegetarian animals' meat arent great though so I believe him. |

Well yeah, one hopes. All I'm saying is that there's a limit to what an outsider can do, and I think that's healthy, because we don't like it when outsiders tell us what to do. They might well argue (and I'd understand up to a point) that if you're going to kill them anyway, what's the point? |

| | poor dogs that's horrible...
i dont know but that rabbit looks pretty fucked up:
At home in Germany, Karl Szmolinsky raises a breed of rabbits called Giant Greys. He sold eight of his bunnies, which can reach a maximum weight of 23 pounds, to North Korea for their meat. |

work on that first.
its HORRIFIC that dogs are treated this way, but ive met plenty of pigs and even cows that were as loving and sweet as any dog. its harder to take bc they are our in home companions for some, but factory farming is just as hard on me as is the slaughter of dogs in china.

| | | oh my god
that's completely disgusting... heartbreaking
Another thing, it is common in Ireland to 'get rid' of horses who are, apparently, not good riders, and a lot of them end up in abattoir to be killed for HUMAN CONSUMPTION. This doesn't just happen in France.
I worked in an animal shelter and looked after many horses who had been too thin to be killed for meat so were left in fields to die, but thankfully had been rescued. |

well a good thing to do would be to always mention the plight of farm animals when these threads come up. the more you do, the more associations will get stronger. "oh yeah, must suck for cows, too" kind of thing.
its not enough to be horrified by dogs being slaughtered but not cows
