| | | The GOOD NEWS thread Since 99% of the news are negative I thought we should have a thread with just GOOD news. I really need to hear some good news.
Do you have any- please write them here.
Love from a very sad and fed up Zin. |

| | | Bush Poll numbers dip again. He's now at 31%. Only Nixon and Harry Truman had worse approval numbers. Republicans in congress have even lower poll numbers. |

| | | For us in Northern California it is wonderful to have dry and sunny weather again. The rain came late this year, possibly due to global climate variations. We suffered many power outages and mudslides. These are things that don't get in the "bad news", nor are remembered once the sun comes out again. Our neighborhood road is washed out. We are responsible as neighbors to repair the road. UPS, the utility companies, many delivery services cannot get up our road now. We have no garbage service. This may sound like tough conditions, but it appears as though the 40 households that live here are coming together with a community spirit and vitality to overcome the crisis. Even the county may come to our aid and provide some funds to help us now, although legally we are responsible for our private road. I can get out the back way. In 1982 people had to backpack in and out to go to work because of mudslides that closed the canyon.
I call the weather conditions "good news" because there is hope. Maybe next year we will have a road again. I would not trade this place, even with the inconveniences. Life without the inconvenience is a life without opportunity. Good news is always about the opporunity to overcome great odds.

| | | This is a very good idea. I fucking hate the news, as you said, it's 99% negative and just adds to stress and general low feelings.
Damnit...I actually don't have any good news. |

| | | My best friend is having a baby and errr...I got my net connection back up again.
In world news: as Veg said, Bush's numbers are way the heck down proving that the US isn't entirely lost, gas prices are up but at least that's prompting people to conserve their travels a bit more and think about other possible solutions... |

| | | Good news to come out of the Arabian Gulf area - Justin Gatlin runs uber-fast 100 metres in Doha Qatar. 9.76 seconds, which isn't particularly slow. Bet he thinks it's good news. |
