The problem is that the facts aren't in yet regarding where he got the guns. So it's hard to start a good debate.

I'm split on the issue. I am a gun owner (I do need one, I have mountain lions and bears that roam my property), but I hate the NRA and believe that waiting periods and certain restrictions are neccesary. I know many gun owners who hate the NRA and believe that they do nothing but harm because they promote irresponsible gun ownership (i.e. no responsible gun owner has a problem with waiting a few days. Angry, crazy people need their gun immediatly).

No doubt about that

No slippery slope. Its plain wrong on all levels.

Strangely enough, many of the people who are against gun control also try to place restriction on speech.

i suppose the difference is how much faith we have in our governments
If you don't like the government you change it by voting, not trying to blow up federal buildings like Tim McVeigh did. He was the ultimate example of an anti government paranoid freak.

I don't know you so I don't know where you stand. But I really don't know if this could have been prevented with tighter gun control laws. What are we talking about here? No guns for legal immigrants? No guns for people who don't pass psychological tests? No guns for english students?

Tighter gun control policies appear to work to a large extent for every other country that has a similar culture to America.
