Question french election campaign

hi there

France is far and mostly unknown for most of you guys, but...
did you hear about our presidential election campaign? what did you hear and what do you think of?
the 1t ballot of elections will be next 22th april.
here people are passionated about it, if you're "for" or "against" this candidate or another. it has already make gaps between members of some families (i'm not joking)!!
France is now facing a real fascist threat

I'm american so my opinion doesn't matter... But personally I don't like Royal that much, but she is the leftist front runner so I WOULD vote for her. The other front runners are terrible---especially Sarkozy.

I'm pretty interested in French politics, after A level French. I think the French situation is similar to the English one - i.e. none of the politicians seem that great. Sarkozy seems awful; I was trying to encourage my French friends at the weekend to vote for anyone to stop him getting in. Except the FN or the really crazy fascist parties, of course. Royal seems alright, I guess, compared with the alternatives.

But who are the other frontrunners? I haven't kept that up-to-date with it recently; you never hear about anyone but these two, it's like it's a foregone conclusion that it'll be one or the other.
