It was the first thing done in court a month after the child was taken from her custody. There is an awful lot of work for her that could have been done in that first month....which is why I said my boss would have a field day with that one. People are always bullying homeless parents. I think it is a little disturbing to hear that the child was taken for that reason, particularly when there are an awful lot of resources that could have been used if anyone was interested in being fair.

I get the subgenius thing too, I just think it is outrageous that a child would be taken from their mother on the grounds of her being homeless in the first place (which is why her child was taken away, the subgenius things would never have come up if it were not for that)--especially since it sounds as though they did not do any kind of investigation before taking custody.

I don't get why they took the child away because of the mother's participation in that thing. Did she make the child participate or something?

I don't even know that it's possible to participate in the Church. It's a prank, little more. It wouldn't surprise me if the judge was a religious tool who "din't take kindly" to her not having proper religious beliefs.

I'd been reading stuff about Church of the Subgenius & Discordianism lately, it's really interesting.
The woman having her kid taken away is bullshit, that judge shouldn't have been allowed to let his own personal beliefs intertere so much in the case.
