After 5 years of being locked away in Cuba for dubious activites in Afghanistan David Hicks has finally been charged. It's an absolute outrage that the Howard government allowed Hicks to be locked up without charge for so long. Even Americans suspected of such crimes were treated better than Hicks. Howard did nothing to help this guy. Sure, maybe he is a radical but that shouldn't mean he should be denied human rights. This shows how much the Australian government really doesn't look after its citizens.

my lecturer told us that if we write to our local government about it we'll get a chocolate or something. i didnt listen too hard. it was funny though coz the next day four students were arrested for holding an unauthorised protest to release hicks.

buit wait, i heard on the radio this afternoon that john howard was getting advice from lawyers about what to do with the situation?

either way i agree its an outrage, he should never have been held that long without a trial. even with a trial he probably wouldn't have been held that long and under such poor conditions.
