Why is this " attempted sex abuse"? She admitted to having sex with her 11 year old foster son.

I dont think there should be leniency for sexual abusers based on their age and lack of prior record.

A sexual crime should be charged based on the amoutn of damage it does to the abused. 3 years does not make up for the emotional and mental consequences the abused suffer for an indeterminate amount of time.





PORTLAND, Ore. — An 84-year-old woman who confessed to having sex with an 11-year-old boy in her foster care reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted sex abuse, officials said.

Georgie Audean Buoy will serve 36 months in prison, said Leslie Wolf, chief deputy district attorney for Wasco County. She was originally charged with six counts, including attempted rape, for which she faced eight years in prison, Wolf said.

In a taped confession, Buoy admitted to having sex with the boy while he was in her care in 2004, Wolf said. Her age and lack of prior criminal convictions played a role in the plea deal.

Buoy's attorney, Andrew Carter, did not return messages Thursday.

Buoy, of The Dalles, was a longtime member of her church and volunteered at the county jail, Wolf said.

She must register as a sex offender after serving her sentence at a women's prison, and must pay $5,000 to the victim, as well as up to $7,500 in restitution for counseling.

the crimes that may exist in the past is my question. Just because there isnt a criminal record doesnt mean that this was the first and only occurence. That is why lack of record shouldnt be take into account. Neither should age. Her age should have made her even more aware of her wrong her actions were.

I think taking age into account essentially means accepting the fact that she probably wouldn't live to serve a longer sentance. Not that I see any good reason for her not to die in prison. Well, I guess there was an issue of the time and resources that would be spent getting a conviction that wouldn't be served. Still, it sucks.

She's likely to die in jail anyways so I guess the punishment is ok but still totally unjustified. "ok" isn't even a good word for it but i can't think of anything else.
Does anybody know if because she's old she gets special prison treatment? Like does she have to live like every other prisoner?
