| | | Saddam was a horrible man!
But that being said, I felt sympathy too.
Why did I feel sympathy?
1. Because he's sooooo charismatic! The guy is like an actor. He's a larger than life personality. He doesn't seem real. We don't see the faces of his victims. We don't see all the women and children he executed. We don't see the men he tortured. All we see is charasmatic him so yes we feel sorry.
2. The war in Iraq is a mess. I supported the war to get Saddam out but I don't support the current situation. Why? Because they are trying to establish democracy in a place that doesn't want it. Iraq needs a charismatic dictator who allows for more freedom, but still rules strongly (i.e. killing extremists) to take Saddam's place. Enough with the American nice version of democracy. They don't want it there. And it's killing all the American soldiers who have to fight for people who just don't want it.
3. The way that the Americans ordered him killed and tried him for war crimes. Yes he did commit war crimes but look at all the other crazy terrorists in Iraq. There's millions of them. Who cares if Iraq has democracy? It's like trying to put out a fire with a bandaid.
So Saddam's execution seems pointless. I mean, execute him? When sooo little has been accomplished in Iraq. Bad Timing!!!!!!!!!!
They should have waited atleast 10 years to execute him. Maybe things would be better y then and then the execution would have seem justified.
But the mess that things are in in Iraq, just makes you think the whole execution is senseless and ofcourse you feel sorry for Saddam, a mass murderer who would kill you and your family if you got in his way.
You don't see the rapes and murders of innocent people by Saddam. What you see is a grave of mass bodies with no faces.
The only face that you know really well is Saddam's.
And the reason you have sympathy for him is because he is larger than life
and the mess in Iraq makes his execution seem futile.
So don't feel bad that you feel sympathy.
I think it's natural to secretly love evil people. Why? Because there are so many assholes in the world.
Just know that murder is wrong, rape is wrong...the things Saddam did is wrong and evil people should be stopped and enforce it.
Divorce your feelings from your intellect and it's easier to see things correctly.
Some of the most evil people in history when they met their doom have gotten nice blond girls to weep for them and children too.
It doesn't mean they shouldn't have been executed.
It just means we are human and often lead astray by our feelings and need to work to see the bigger picture
and realize that Saddam is not an actor, he's a real killer, even if we don't understand what it's like to live in a country run
by a leader who gasses Pensylvania and lines up Floridians in firing ranges for execution.

I was wondering what the American soldiers or the war in Iraq had to do with your sympathy toward Saddam? I can understand unrest toward the current situation because the entire premis of it was and is pretty much bullshit but personally, it doesn't bring forth any pity from me toward a monster like Saddam. Are you saying that you feel sympathy because if it hadn't been for America pretending to play Joan of Iraq he wouldn't have been hung? His being hung is a good thing, politics politics politics, pity the soldiers not the dictator. That's my motto, I'm not asking you to make a button or anything. Just curious why you feel badly for him because of that...
(edit: sorry, rephrase, why did you feel sorry for him because of that?)
Moving on to general opinions about the hanging, this has nothing to do with the above post any more:
I admit I felt a ping of something resembling sorrow when I saw the pictures of the executioners explaining to Saddam the technicalities of how they were going to hang him: It's in my personality to see the old charismatic man preparing for the gallows. But that sorrow was squashed the second I thought about the sicko behind the old man mask and thought to myself: Would I feel sympathy for him if he'd brutalized the people I care about? Fuckem. The sucker got what he deserved. Yeah, go ahead and fight about how there are plenty of other bastards in the world who deserve the same fate, but he's no loss to me, and I assume the Iraqui public feels the same way. One bastard down, good for us. Fuckem, good riddance, the world can do without. |

| | His final moments and beyond. Saddam exchanged taunts before hanging Quote: |
"I have saved you from destitution and misery and destroyed your enemies, the Persian and Americans," Saddam responded, al-Rubaie told the Times.

| | | It's dope I'm pretty sure. I'm guessing it was dark under the gallows so that's why such poor quality. Very convincing if fake. I'd say authentic. I've watched but once. Consistent with reports. |

americans have been propagandized, and programmed. end of story.
truth is, we had no fucking right to do a goddamn thing to that man or his country. but hey, we're america! we don't have to take shit from anybody.
on a side note, im not even neccessarily convinced he's actually been killed. | nice comment , thank you. |

Thousands are waiting for the Burial ceremonies to be finished so they can defecate and urinate on Saddam's grave marker... |
