1. Say clearly what this is about to avoid speculation that is harmful to the girl in question, or
2. Shut up entirely until a decision has been made to also avoid speculation.

Dudette, she's a Miss America contestant, it's a little late to be worrying about her dignity. The whole contest is about assessing whether a person conforms to these vapid and unfathomable criteria. I mean, sure, it's a big contest and all that, but anyone who seriously believes that the criteria for the contest have any grounding in a person's actual worth is a fool.
