flaky skin: std?

hmmm, kinda gross but I'm wondering whether flaky skin down there might be a sign of an std.
It's been like a month since i had (unsafe... ) sex, but it's kinda weird because around the time I was having sex I also got a bad bikini wax. it was very painful and I think the lady burned me with the wax (it was a brazilian) and it seems like the itchy flaky parts are at the spot where it was so painful after the waxing. so it could still be that. my vagina itself is not itchy, but the skin around it (actually more down, toward the back, lol) is and i think I just keep on making it worse by not giving it a chance to heal.
i have no other signs of an std or yeast infection or anything. just the skin that seems incredibly dry. could it be eczema? cause i do have an eczema problem (face and arms) and it's also really dry flaky skin;...

alright. this is embarassing, and sorry if it's gross but hey, this is the health board and i've seen some other crazy threads around here (the vinegar up your vag "homemade yeast infection cure" thing, to name just one... )

thanks

I'm 95% sure it's from the waxing. I've never heard that dry skin is a symptom of an std. Put lotion on it and don't worry about it.

hmmm, I just check it out (lol) and now it's not really flaky but just quite red and irritated and very dry (ummm;..kinda wrinkly; haha, sorry, but it's cause of the dryness cause I do not have a wrinkly vag usually !!!!). i put this "recalm" lotion thing on it against itching and irritation and it's also suitable for minor burns and it is kinda burning but i'm gessing it's normal cause the skin is irritated.

i'm still worried it's an std but on the other hand it's pretty much exactly in that area the burns from the waxing were. after I got out of the salon it was really burning so when I went home i checked and I had these 2 bright red patches of skin... and yea, i dunno, should I go to the doctor just to make sure? should I see my gyno?

thanks

i agree that it's probably not an STD symptom, but all the same after having had unprotected sex people should always be tested.

it doesn't matter if there are no symptoms, a lot of STDs barely have symptoms but can cause terrible problems later on

sara, see your doctor and arrange tests. also you could ask them about the skin damage. do you have e45 cream in your country? i find that's really good for dry or damaged skin. i suggest making a complain to the salon who did it as well, try to get your money back or something
